Captain Antonio Valencia set to part ways with Manchester United

Antonio Valencia

Captain Antonio Valencia is set to leave Manchester United this summer.

Valencia is approaching 10 years at the Theatre of Dreams however, Man Utd have
not struck an option on Valencia's deal that expired on Friday evening.

It is understood that the 33-year old ex-Wigan player is resigned to leaving Old Trafford this summer, but is keen to extend his career.

The Captain is currently at home in Ecuador as he recovers from a calf injury.

Valencia has featured just nine times for Man Utd and made one appearance - at Newcastle on January 2 - since Solskjaer took over from Jose Mourinho in December.

United have other options at right-back including Ashley Young who extended his contract by one year last month, and 19-year old Diogo Dalot who joined the club from Porto in June for £19m.
