Taifa Stars of Tanzania Head Coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, has shown confidence that his side would not be an underdog in the forthcoming 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON), to be hosted in Egypt from 21 June to 19 July.

In March, Emmanuel Amuneke, led the Taifa Stars to their first AFCON since their debut at the 1980 finals.

Amuneke, who played for Egyptian side Zamalek in the '90s, said: “We cannot be talking about looking for an easy group at the AFCON because all the best teams on the continent would be in attendance in Egypt.”

The 2019 AFCON draw will take place on 12 April and the former Nigerian professional footballer has said Tanzania would cope in the coming of any team irrespective of their status in African football.

The erstwhile Barcelona winger said: “My philosophy is that there is nothing like impossibility in football; nobody gave Tanzania the chance to qualify for the AFCON but we have qualified as a result of hard work.”

For the first time in the history of the continental football tournament, 24 teams would tussle for the Egypt 2019 trophy.

The teams will drawn into six groups with four team in each.

“We can’t say this is the team we wished to be drawn against or the team we don’t want to play against at the AFCON; but we shall do our best even if we are in the same group with Nigeria or even the hosts, Egypt.”
