I want to win the Champions League with PSG - Mbappe
Kylian Mbappé has highlighted his ambition of helping Paris Saint-Germain win the UEFA Champions League, saying it "would be very special" to see the Ligue 1 title-winners scale the summit of European football.
The 2019-20 Ligue 1 season is over, but PSG are still in the UEFA Champions League having seen off Borussia Dortmund to reach the quarter-finals.
Whether the competition returns remains unclear, but FIFA World Cup winner Mbappé told The Mirror he has high hopes of eventually lifting 'the cup with big ears' in the colours of PSG.
"It is a big ambition of mine to win the European Cup and to be a part of PSG winning their first European Cup would be very special," said the 21-year-old, who was not born when the capital club lifted the European Cup Winners' Cup — their sole continental success to date — in 1996.
Mbappé has taken the football world by storm since breaking into the AS Monaco side during the 2016-17 season. He has since scored 80 times in 117 Ligue 1 appearances, including a fabulous 64 in just 76 top-matches after joining PSG in 2018.
His individual performances have brought his clubs four Ligue 1 titles, a Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue, as well as lifting Les Bleus to the pinnacle of world football in Russia in 2018.
Tipped heavily as a future winner of football's biggest individual prize, Mbappé insisted his priority is always team success.
"It would be nice to win – but it is not something that keeps me awake at night," he said. "I don't think I have to win it next season or the season after – there is no time limit I have put on it.
"Always I will put PSG and the national team as my priority. Then, if personal honours come from my performances then it is a bonus."
