Real Madrid got an important 1 - 0 victory over Espanyol after French pro striker Karim Benzema's amazing assist for Casemiro right at the end of the first 45 minutes.
The Los Blancos are now two points ahead of former toppers Barcelona who drew 2 - 2 after a tough game at Celta Vigo.
Zinedine Zidane's side are ahead of Barcelona, thanks to their head-to-head record in the two Clasico encounters this season.

Barca's 2 - 2 draw with Celta Vigo paved the way for Real Madrid to go two points atop the top flight table.
Espanyol's defence stayed strong despite Zidane seeking for more pace by featuring Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo for Isco and Eden Hazard.

The White and Blue are deeply rooted to the bottom of the table, 10 points behind 17th placed Celta Vigo with six games remaining.
