Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirms Thiago Alcantara wants to leave, while they have ‘not decided’ whether to buy Ivan Perisic from Inter.

The Germans just splashed out €49m to get Leroy Sane from Manchester City, so are pinching the pennies elsewhere.

Rummenigge has been speaking to both Bild and Sport1 today about the transfer strategy in the post-COVID football world.

“We have not decided anything yet with regards to Perisic, but I would just like to underline that Bayern Munich have to face some important financial challenges too.

“Thiago Alcantara and David Alaba are both top level guys, on and off the field. Now we must try to find a solution that is financially acceptable for us. It’s known to everyone they have only one year left on their contracts and clearly we won’t risk losing them for free next summer.

“Thiago Alcantara wants to leave. We satisfied all his economic requests, but it seems he wants another experience. We don’t want to lose him for free, I can say that very clearly.”

Liverpool have been repeatedly linked with Thiago Alcantara.
