The Premier League current holders may be without the Dutch defender for the remainder of the season after the player picked up an ACL injury in their English top flight game against Everton following his collision with Toffees goalie Jordan Pickford.

Van Dijk's absence from the squad leaves Reds Manager Jurgen Klopp with only two options - Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, both are recognised senior defenders who will fill Van Dijk's vacuum, while Fabinho will play as extra cover.

Liverpool who clinched their first English Premier League title (2019-20 season) after three decades are expected to go search for replacement for Van Dijk.

Two possible replacements have been named, they are: Brighton and Hove Albion's Ben White and Schalke 04's Ozan Kabak.

White is Reds' top choice while Kabak will be alternative in case White proves difficult to buy.
