Plateau United head coach, Abdu Maikaba has revealed that he was able to reverse the much celebrated slash in the salaries of both coaches and players of the Peace Boys after a showdown talk with the chairman of the team, Pius Henwan.

It was reported by the Peace Boys media that the management of the club had decided to cut the salary of the team’s players and officials in the aftermath of their 1-0 home loss to GO Round in the last game before the general elections break.

Maikaba who arrived from Niger Republic on assignment with the Flying Eagles barely hours before the league game with GO Round told SportingLife that he told the Chairman the effect the salary cut could have on the players and the technical crew and that it was reversed immediately.

“There is nothing like salary cut because I was able to convince the Chairman not to embark on such step,” Maikaba told SportingLife.

“I have told him that the players will buckle up and that results will improve from our weekend away game with Abia Warriors. We must reciprocate the gesture from the team management with impressive performance in our remaining league games.

"It was the reason why we played those two friendly games that tested the players’ fitness level. I am happy that the players did well in those games. I also told the management that we do not need new additional players during the recent mid season.”

Plateau United are presently at the wrong end of the league table in the relegation zone in 10th position with 11 points from 10 games in the Group B of the NPFL.
