Super Eagles defender Elderson Echiejile made his official debut for HJK Helsinki in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at home to HIFK in a Finnish League game.

The draw was the third for HJK Helsinki this season after five games.

The Nigerian international who joined HJK on a free transfer in January with an option to extend for another year, had been without a club since leaving French club Monaco last summer played for 70 minutes before he was replaced by Ivan Tarasov.

A former youth international, Elderson has been capped 60 times by Nigeria and won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations with the Super Eagles.

He played at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and was an unused substitute at last year’s tournament in Russia.
