Financial Pressure: Roma may be forced to sell Zaniola and Pellegrini

Roma could be forced to sell this summer, as Liverpool look at Nicolò Zaniolo while Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are interested in Lorenzo Pellegrini.

The delays in the takeover talks with the Friedkin Group and failure to qualify for the Champions League have put extra financial pressure on the Giallorossi, who have been regularly selling top players for years now.

This week, the club posted huge debts of €278.5m, an increase of almost €60m from their financial statement ending June 30, last year.

Multiple newspapers in Italy note that this means Roma could be forced into selling their biggest names.

Zaniolo is the most valuable player right now, who had a price tag of €80m a few months ago. Although, clearly that has dropped in the post-coronavirus transfer market.

Another would be Pellegrini, who has €30m release clause in his contract that would allow clubs to snap him up without negotiation.
