Wigan Athletic have emerged the first team to score seven times in the first half alone in England's top four football levels since Watford bounced back from a 2-0 half-time deficit to win 7-2 against Blackpool at
Vicarage Road in a Championship clash in January 2015.

Hull City's struggle to survive relegation from Championship suffered a serious setback after being mauled by Wigan Athletic eight goals to nothing in their English Championship encounter on Tuesday inside the DW Stadium.

Hosts Wigan took the lead in the first minute of the game through Scottish winger Kal Naismith, there was no goal scored until eighteen minutes left to the end of the first fourty-five minutes when the entire Hull City technique collapsed and the goals started pouring in.

Striker Kieffer Moore and Everton loanee Kieran Dowell recorded their names on the goalscorers sheet with two goals each, Jamal Lowe and Joe Williams netted one each to make seven goals in the first half.

Dowell made it 8-0 in favour of the hosts as he completed his hat-trick.

The 8-0 victory is the biggest win in Wigan Athletic's history and their eighth win in eleven games.

Wigan also recorded 10 clean sheets after the game.
