Newly-promoted Leeds United are English Championship winners

Photos ⬇ Leeds United lifted the Championship trophy after a 4-0 whitewash of Charlton Athletic on Wednesday 22 July, the final day of the League.

Charlton Athletic stayed in the Championship for just one season and will be returning to the League One following their defeat to the Newly-promoted Leeds United.

The Peacocks were totally in control of the game all through and were in front when Ben White, a loanee from top flight club Brighton and Hove Albion, netted in the 14th minute.

The hosts sank the Addicks deeper when Staurt Dallas and Tyler Roberts scored the second and third goals in the 28th and 51st minutes respectively.

Jamie Shackleton sealed the win for the Peacocks in the 66th minute to show Charlton Athletic the way out of the Championship and back to the League One from where they came.

It was a pitiful finish for what has been a difficult 2019/20 campaign for Charlton Athletic both on and off the pitch.
