Lille Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen wins Marc Vivien Foe Award

The Marc Vivien Foe Award is under the auspices of RFI English-France 24 English.

Victor Osimhen, Nigerian pro striker who plays for French Ligue 1 club LOSC Lille,
has clinched the Marc Vivien Foe Award which is presented to the Best Player in the French Ligue 1.

Algeria striker Islam Slimani and Morocco international defender Yunis Abdelhamid emerged second and third respectively.

Moses Simon who plays for Nantes was also on the list of players vying for the award, however, he emerged 11th best among Africa players in the French top flight.

Slimani spent last season on loan at Monaco while Abdelhamid plays for Reims.

Osimhen, 21, is the youngest player ever to clinch the award after emerging top from a poll of about 100 experts in football across the media to take over from former Lille player Nicolas Pepe, who currently plays for English Premier League club Arsenal.

Victor Osimhen helped LOSC Lille finish fourth on the French Ligue 1 table after netting 13 times for the club. It was his debut with The Mastiffs as well as scored twice in six games for the club in the UEFA Champions League 2019-20.

The Nigeria international has been linked with a move away from the French club to SSC Napoli an Italian top flight outfit.
