Official: Beppe Iachini will stay on as Fiorentina coach for 2020-21 campaign
Fiorentina have officially announced Beppe Iachini as their coach for 2020-21. ‘I’m really happy, the Viola are something special to me.’
Iachini replaced Vincenzo Montella, who was sacked after a 4-1 defeat to Roma in December and initially signed a contact until the end of the 2019-20 season.
Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso wrote a press release to confirm the decision to extend Iachini’s stay at the Artemio Franchi.
“ACF Fiorentina announce that Giuseppe Iachini will remain as coach of the first team also for the 2020-21 season,” the press release read.
“Beppe Iachini arrived at a complicated moment for the team and has succeeded despite the difficulties of a unique and incredible year from all points of view.
“He has given compactness to the environment and helped us climb the table. This is why I’m convinced the coach deserves the opportunity to work with the team from the beginning of the season.
“In these months I have appreciated his seriousness, his commitment and his skills and I think it’s right to recognise the good work he has done together with the staff.
“Next season we will all be on his side and I’m now wishing my best of luck for the new season, but we are thinking about the last game and we are trying to improve our position in the table even further.”
Fiorentina sit 10th in Serie A after the 4-0 win against Bologna on Wednesday and Iachini has vowed to ‘give our fans some good moments’.
“I’m really happy, for me Fiorentina are something special, they have always been in my heart,” Iachini told the club’s website.
“I would like to thank the whole club, starting with the President Rocco Commisso, with Joe Barone and Daniele Prade, for the great support they have shown me and the trust that has been given to me.
“I want to thank this fantastic group of lads for their availability and professionalism that they have shown me and to the staff in these months.
“I hope that through our work, we will be able to give ourselves and our fans some good moments.”
