Champions League: CHE 0-0 SEV - Edouard Mendy 'is the number one with two clean sheets' - Lampard hails goalie after goalless home draw

The Senegalese goalkeeper who joined from French club Rennes in September, has set himself up as the Blues first-choice shot stopper following his big saves during their UEFA Champions League encounter against Sevilla at the Stamford Bridge on Tuesday 20, helping the hosts earn a point.

Blues Boss Frank Lampard dumped Spanish goalie Kepa Arrizabalga against the Los Palanganas, who are current Europa League Champions, after his recent errors.

When asked if the Senegal international is Chelsea's number one, Lampard answered: "At the moment, yes. He's shown his quality.

"The way he's played, he's played very well, that's two clean sheets for him already.

"As it stands he is the number one but that's always up for grabs. But the way he's playing I'm very happy."

Chelsea will travel to Russia for their next Champions League clash against Krasnodar.
