Europa League: Rapid Wien 1-2 Arsenal - 'Fantastic' Thomas Partey 'held the midfield by himself' - Mikel Arteta

Gunners Manager Mikel Arteta has hailed his new Ghanaian addition Thomas Party, describing him as "fantastic" and assured "there's more to come" after Arsenal came from behind to clinch a 2-1 victory at Rapid Wien in their UEFA Europa League 2020/21 season match.

Rapid Wien who were ahead of their visitors in the early period of the second fourty-five minutes saw their 1-0 lead fizzle as Arsenal equalised and overtook them through defender David Luiz and striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a space of five minutes.


Taxiarchis Fountas placed The Green-whites in front in the 51st minute, Arsenal levelled in the 70th minute through Brazilian defender David Luiz and Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sealed the win for the Gunners in the 74th minute.

Mikel Arteta praised his recently-signed midfielder Thomas Partey saying the Ghana international "held the midfield by himself".


The Spanish Boss said: "I think he held the midfield by himself in the second half when we were a little bit more open. He started to take more chances attacking certain spaces with some players.


"I think he was fantastic and there is much more to come from him."
