Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga was made to "pay" for his "big mistake" as Chelsea recorded a well-deserved victory against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea Boss Maurizio Sarri fielded Willy
Caballero as he dumped Kepa on the bench after he refused to be substituted against Manchester City in Sunday's Carabao Cup Final. The Citizens defeated the Blues in penalties.
Sarri said, "It was very easy. Kepa made a big mistake and then paid with the club. In this match he has to pay with the team."
Pedro celebrates after scoring - The Guardian |
"It was only a message for all the team, the dressing room - we are a team and not 25 individuals. Now it is behind us and in the future Kepa will be with us."
Pedro netted Chelsea's first goal as Kieran Trippier turned Olivier Giroud's flick past Lloris into his own net with six minutes left.
Chelsea are sixth with 53 points, two points behind Manchester United who are fifth while Tottenham are still third with 60 points, four points above Arsenal who are fourth.
