Since September for the first time, Bayern Munich went top of the Bundesliga after recording a 6 - 0 win over Wolfsburg at the Allianz Stadium.

At the top of the League with nine points in December, Borussia Dortmund beat Stuttgart 3 - 1 but have now fallen behind the Bavarians on goal difference.

Serge Gnabry and Robert Lewandowski put the hosts 2-0 up with close-range finishes before James Rodriguez added a third from the edge of the box.

Thomas Muller made it four for the Bavarians, Joshua Kimmich made it five and striker Lewandowski sealed the win with a sixth in the 85th minute.

Bayern Munich's Polish striker is now the top scoring foreign player in the Bundesliga history having netted 197 times.

Claudio Pizarro, ex Bayern Munich striker, who is still playing in the German top flight with Werder Bremen at the age of 40, was the previous record-holder with 195.

As posted on Bayern Munich's offical English Twitter account:

Bayern Munich, who have clinched the past six German titles are now above Dortmund on the table with two goals difference.
