Under 23 Eagles willing to do everything to qualify - Awoniyi

U-23 Eagles in training

Nigeria Under 23 attacker, Taiwo Awoniyi has disclosed that they are willing to put their bodies on the line in their desperation to overturn the two goals deficit they had in the first leg of the Under 23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya today.

The Olympic Eagles lost 2-0 to the Junior Mediterranean Knights of Libya in Ben Guarden, Tunisia last Wednesday and they are in a race against time to advance to the next round of the qualifiers.

“I was disappointed with the first leg result because we let ourselves down with our performance,” Awoniyi told SportingLife.

"We have to fight for an emphatic win and we are calling on Nigerians to come and support the team. We know we do not have any other option than to win and we will need the prayers of Nigerians and their full support too."

Super Eagles goalie Francis Uzoho and Chidozie Awaziem were deployed on a rescue mission to assist the Under 23 Eagles against Libya on Monday.

Saudi Professional League side Al Nassr forward Ahmed Musa, has pledged ₦1m per goal for the U-23 Eagles in the Monday clash.

Super Eagles Head Coach Gernot Rohr has predicted the match would end 3 - 0 in favour of the Olympic Eagles.
