He went ahead to praise Inter Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku.

Lucio joined Inter on a free transfer after his success at German club Bayern Munich, and helped the Nerazzurri clinch the treble in 2009/10.

But the Brazilian also had one season under current Inter Manager Antonio Conte at Juventus, lifting the scudetto with the Bianconeri too.

Lucio told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “I watch fewer games than I would like but Inter finally have all the credentials to end Juve’s dominance. It’s strange to see [Antonio] Conte on the Nerazzurri bench, but what matters in football are the results and he’s getting them.

“He works a lot on the physical aspect, Inter are quick in the transition from defence to attack and can count on a couple of exceptional strikers.

“I hope that [captain Samir] Handanovic and his team can reach the same goals as my Inter over the years.”

Since his move from English giants Manchester United to Inter, Romelu Lukaku has been impressive and Lucio did not hesitate to hail the Belgium international.

“He has an amazing physical strength, which he makes available for the team,” Lucio continued.

“He reminds me of [former Chelsea star Didier] Drogba and a little bit of [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic too.

“If you try to stop him by putting your body in, you’re done for. He manages to crush every opponent, the only weapon to stop him is to intercept or to mark him hands on.”

Lucio retired from football in January 2020, he is now 42, and has come out to make known his intention to remain in football.

The former pro defender said: “After leaving, I dedicated myself to my family. I believe that my experience on the pitch, between club and national team, is a precious heritage to be taken somewhere.

“I want to go back to work in football.”
