Olympique Lyonnais President Jean-Michel Aulas is raging at the ‘idiotic’ French authorities for cutting the Ligue 1 season short. ‘It’s an absolute scandal.’

So far, this is the only one of the top five
European leagues to have declared an early end to the 2019-20 season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Lyon released a sarcastic statement “congratulating” La Liga on deciding to resume their campaign from June 8, followed up by President Aulas speaking to L’Equipe.

“It’s paradoxical that a country like Spain, which had more deaths during the pandemic than France, should reflect and find a path back to playing football.

“UEFA asked everyone to be patient. When we see our leaders who participated in the assembly of football federations and made such very different conclusions, we feel idiotic.

“UEFA even released their own medical protocol, which we didn’t even look at in France. It’s an absolute scandal.”

Lyon might’ve ended their Ligue 1 campaign, but they are still in the Champions League Round of 16, midway through their tie with Juventus.
