Video 👇 Former Super Eagles striker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni says he still gets messages for the goal he missed against the Korea Republic at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Yakubu said people have refused to forget the incident and move, but admitted he’s felt bad for days about the missing the chance.

“I felt bad when I missed it but people still talk about it.

Aiyegbeni missed a vital and golden opportunity for Nigeria against South Korea during their encounter at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. This miss is regarded as one of the worst misses in the history of the World Cup. The Super Eagles ended the game with a 2 - 2 result, however, wasn't enough to scale the country through to the Round of 16. Photo: AFP/TheGuardian

“I have always done my best to help the country but it’s weird that people still send me messages till date even on social media about that miss,” he said.

Aiyegbeni converted a late penalty to salvage a 2–2 draw for the Super Eagles but it was not enough to earn the team a place in the round of 16.

Yakubu scored 20 goals from 57 appearances.
