Liverpool have hit a major stumbling block in their attempt to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, according to a report.

The Reds have been strongly linked with
the Germany international, who has a €55m (£48m) release clause in his contract.

However, Bild claims that Liverpool have no plans to hand over that amount of money before the clause expires in mid-June.

Leipzig will allegedly not negotiate a cheaper fee with the Premier League champions-elect, meanwhile, potentially opening the door for another club to pounce.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Leipzig's domestic rivals Bayern Munich have also been tipped to move for Werner, who has 30 goals to his name in all competitions this season.
