Barcelona have announced Arthur Melo’s transfer to Juventus for €72m plus up to €10m in variable bonuses, but Miralem Pjanic’s statement comes later.

“FC Barcelona and Juventus FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Arthur Melo. The Italian club will pay 72 million euros, plus 10 million euros in variables.

"The player will remain at FC Barcelona until the end of official competition in the 2019/20 season,” read a statement on the Blaugrana website.

Pjanic is expected to be worth €60m as part of this deal, but the Juventus announcement is waiting for the stock exchange to close in Italy.

Both players had their medicals in Turin’s J Medical centre on Sunday, as due to coronavirus restrictions, it was considered easier for the Barca doctors to fly out rather than bring Pjanic to Spain.

The paperwork had to be completed by June 30 to ensure it would show up on the 2019-20 financial year balance sheets, even if the players won’t make the transfers to their new clubs until after the Champions League has been completed in August.
