Inter Milan plot to bring Messi to San Siro with €50m pay yearly

La Gazzetta dello Sport suggest Inter are making a genuine attempt to sign Lionel Messi from Barcelona, with a salary worth €50m net per year.


They are so far the only Italian source who maintain this is a real bid and were quoted by El Chiringuito in Spain today as well.

Messi is coming to the end of his contract at Camp Nou and increasingly frustrated with the ownership and ever-changing flow of coaches.

According to the Gazzetta, the Inter proposal would be a contract worth €50m per season net, for a total of €260m over four years.

It is repeatedly noted that this does not mean the deal is likely to happen, simply explaining why Inter’s rich Chinese backers Suning could make the finances work.

A new major sponsor is expected in 2021 and Financial Fair Play regulations are under fire following the Manchester City successful appeal.
