Roma forward Nicolò Zaniolo will operate tomorrow, as the tests at Villa Stuart revealed a second ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injury in just eight months.
The Giallorossi confirmed the attacking midfielder, who ruptured his ACL during a match against Juventus in January, requires another operation.
The Roma midfielder went off just before half-time in Italy’s 1-0 win against Holland in the UEFA Nations League.
“Nicolò Zaniolo will undergo surgery on Wednesday after MRI scans today confirmed the player has suffered a complete tear to the anterior cruciate ligament,” the club wrote in a statement.
“The 21-year-old suffered the injury while playing for Italy against Holland on Monday evening.” Football-italia
