Nigeria 0-1 Algeria: 'Not a great game, we truly missed Aribo, Etebo and Ndidi' - Pinnick

Amaju Pinnick, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has said that the Super Eagles missed midfielders Joe Aribo, Oghenekaro Etebo and Wilfred Ndidi during their international friendly against current African Champions Algeria.

The trio pulled out of the friendly as a result of injuries and no assurance they will be available for the Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sierra Leone and Benin Republic.

The Desert Warriors of Algeria emerged victorious by a lone goal against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the friendly hosted in Austria as Gernot Rohr fielded Semi Ajayi and debutant Frank Onyeka in the midfield.

NFF President Pinnick, after the game, said the display against the current Champions of Africa was below expectation and revealed he is hopeful for the Super Eagles against The Carthage Eagles of Tunisia when they lock horns in an international friendly in Austria on Tuesday 13.

Pinnick said: “Nigeria vs Algeria – Not a great game but indeed a great future.

“Truly we missed the super, imposing and majestic presence of Aribo, Etebo, Osimhen, especially Wilfred Ndidi. In God we trust.”
