Premier League: Chelsea 3-3 Southampton - Blues 'making individual mistakes, we want clean sheets' - Frank Lampard

Chelsea took the lead twice and let go twice against a very "good" Southampton at the Stamford Bridge on Saturday in their Premier League match.

Frank Lampard, not happy with the outcome as he made it clear after the encounter that Chelsea have to refrain from making "individual mistakes" which gives other teams "chances at all times".

All the goals Chelsea conceded came from defensive mistakes, with Kai Havertz losing possession in his own half, a weak back pass from defender Kurt Zouma and a frail block attempt from Blues goalie Kepa Arrizabalaga, unnecessary free-kick conceded and a feebly attempted clearance.

German striker Timo Werner placed Chelsea two goals ahead in the 15th and 28th minute. Danny Ings pulled one for Southampton in the 43rd minutes and Che Adams levelled up for the visitors in the 57th minute.

Kai Havertz, German attacking midfielder, put the Blues right back in front with the third goal in the 59th minute, Jannik Vestargaard came back for the Saints in the 90th minute to help Southampton leave Stamford Bridge with one point.

Full-Time: Chelsea 3-3 Southampton - 'points shared'

Chelsea hold the sixth spot with eight points after five games while Southampton are tenth with seven points after five games.

After the game, Blues Boss Frank Lampard told BBCSport: "We have to not give those goals away.

"We are making individual mistakes in games and it gives other teams chances at all times. It is something we need to get better at.

"It goes through the team. We are seeing a lot of goals in the Premier League at the moment and no manager is happy with that. We all want clean sheets. It has to be better."

He further said: "You go 2-0 up and you want to finish the game, as at that point we were playing great football. The first half was as good as we have played this season.

"Southampton are a good side and we allowed the pressure they want to put you under off the ball to gain traction. They put us under pressure and our game management could be better."
