Champions League: Bayern 3-1 Salzburg - Bavarians through to round of 16, Lewandowski joins elite company

German Champions Bayern Munich discomfited Austrian side Salzburg 3-1 in their UEFA Champions League encounter on Wednesday night inside the Allainz Arena.

According to beINSPORTS, Robert Lewandowski moved level with Raul as the Champions League's third-highest scorer.

The 32-year old Polish striker opened scoring for the Bavarians in the 43rd minute.

Salzburg Austrian defender Maximilian Wöber hit the back of his own net to help Bayern Munich go two goals ahead.

Assisted by Kingsley Coman, former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane netted the third goal for the hosts in the 68th minute.

The visitors pulled one back in the 73rd minute through Mergim Berisha.

Bayern Munich remain Group A leaders with twelve points amassed from four wins out of four clashes while Salzburg are placed fourth with just one point after one draw and three losses.
