Champions League: Bayern 3-1 Salzburg - Bavarians through to round of 16, Lewandowski joins elite company

German Champions Bayern Munich discomfited Austrian side Salzburg 3-1 in their UEFA Champions League encounter on Wednesday night inside the Allainz Arena.

According to beINSPORTS, Robert Lewandowski moved level with Raul as the Champions League's third-highest scorer.


The 32-year old Polish striker opened scoring for the Bavarians in the 43rd minute.

It was the Poland International's 71st Champions League goal which inspired Hansi Flick's men to their fourth triumph out of four in the UEFA Champions League 2020/21.


Salzburg Austrian defender Maximilian Wöber hit the back of his own net to help Bayern Munich go two goals ahead.


Assisted by Kingsley Coman, former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane netted the third goal for the hosts in the 68th minute.
