Substitute Diogo Jota scored for the third straight match as the Reds fought back to defeat the Hammers who stunned their hosts with an early lead.

Spanish attacking midfielder Pablo Fornals opened scoring for the Hammers in the 10th minute via a beautiful finish.

Fornals' goal was the fifteenth goal Liverpool have conceded this season after seven games.

Jurgen Klopp's men fought back to get a leveller just three minutes to the end of the first half through Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah right from the penalty spot.

This is another victory for Liverpool without their defense maestro Virgil Van Dijk who has been out for a while now due to an injury he picked up in their top flight encounter against Everton which ended 2-2.

Van Dijk was involved in a heavy collision with Toffees goalie Jordan Pickford which resulted to the Dutchman walking off the pitch.

Reports have it that the Captain of the Netherlands National team might be away for the Reds for the remainder of the season due to the injury. This simply means that Liverpool's defensive troubles lingers as no replacement has been found for the 29-year old centre-back.

Klopp handed central defender Nathaniel Phillips his debut to occupy Van Dijk's vacuum as Joel Matip and Fabinho still remain out of action due to injuries.

23-year old Portuguese forward Diogo Jota who transferred from Wolverhampton Wanderers netted the winner for Liverpool in the 85th minute.

The Reds have amassed sixteen points after seven clashes and are currently League toppers, leading Everton who are second with three points, however, the Toffees have a unplayed game against Newcastle United at the St. James' Park on Sunday 1 Nov and might reclaim their number one spot if they emerge victorious against the Magpies but it depends on the outcome.

After Jota's display against the Hammers, Reds German Boss Jurgen Klopp said: "He's much better than I thought he would be and that's really impressive.

"He's an exceptional talent. He has the speed, physicality, technique, and he's both-footed."
