Sheffield 2-3 Man United: 'Dean is ready to take these games' - Solskjaer explains why he fielded Henderson over De Gea

Manchester United Norwegian Head Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained that Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea was rotated out of the side against Sheffield United rather than dropped for returnee Dean Henderson.

In the Premier League game at the Bramall Lane on Thursday 17, goalkeeper Dean Henderson was in action for the Red Devils as they came from behind to defeat the Blades 3-2 inside the Bramall Lane.

Despite Henderson's return to the Old Trafford, De Gea has maintained his number one spot for Manchester United, however, the Englishman was fielded against Chris Wilder's side on Thursday night.

Henderson's error led to Sheffield taking the lead early in the 5th minute but the visitors hustled back to leave the Bramall Lane with all three points after being inspired by forward Marcus Rashford's leveller in the 26th minute.

Solskjaer defended his decision to field Henderson over De Gea, saying: "It's one I had pencilled in for him early on," Solskjaer told reporters "I feel Dean is ready as well now to take these games on because he's played well when he's played. David did really well against City, it's not anything to do with that."

Henderson has started two of the last three Premier League encounters for Manchester United since his return from Sheffield United on loan.
