With immediate effect, the Gabon Senior National Football Team has been dissolved by the Gabonese Government after failing to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations in Egypt.

The Panthers drew 1 - 1 with Burundi in Bujumbura in the last round of the AFCON qualifying series despite having Arsenal’s striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang in their line up.

Through the Sports Minister, Billie By Nze, the Gabonese Government made this decision known on Wednesday.

After six matches, Gabon finished third with seven points behind Burundi, who finished with nine points and Mali, who ended as Group C toppers with eleven points.

Daniel Cousin, Head Coach of the Gabon Senior National Team, was also relieved of his post as Manager.

He directed the federation to get another coach within 60 days and start recruiting new players for the national team.
