Defender William Troost-Ekong has bared his mind on the international friendly between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Pharaohs of Egypt at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, saying that, the Eagles
were lucky to defeat the Pharaohs on Tuesday.
With just nine seconds played, FC Midtylland of Denmark forward Benjamin Onuachu scored the only goal of the game,
firing a powerful shot into the net to help the Super Eagles secure their first win against Egypt in 29 years.
It was Onuachu's first goal and first start for Nigeria, who are three-time Champions of Africa.
Troost-Ekong disclosed to reporters after the game, “Egypt are a great side, we were lucky to have scored a goal in the first minute.”
“The pitch was bad for us and for them but we were able to score an early goal and the new players played very well."
Both the Super Eagles and the Pharaohs will be present at the 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations in Egypt.
