2019 AFCON: Rangers Int'l goalie Bonsu makes Ghana provisional squad

Nana Bonsu, Ghanaian goalkeeper, based in Nigeria has bagged the chance to fight for one of the three slots reserved for goalies in the Black Stars squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.


Bonsu is Rangers Int'l of Enugu first choice goalkeeper and is one of the four keepers penned down by head coach Kwesi Appiah in consultation with goalkeepers’ trainer Richard Kingston.

The others are: Richard Ofori, Felix Annan and Lawrence Ati-Zigi.

The 30-year-old’s last major outing in the Ghana colours was at the 2005 Fifa U-17 World Cup in Peru.

Bonsu has played for some top local clubs like King Faisal, Heart of Lions, AshantiGold before moving to Rangers in 2016.

After the official announcement of the provisional squad, Ghana will begin their pre-Afcon preparations with a non- residential camping in Accra from May 27 before moving to the United Arab Emirates from June 1 for more preparations.

The Black Stars of Ghana are drawn in Group F alongside defending champions Cameroon, Benin and Guinea-Bissau.
