Atletico Madrid have reportedly given up on Inter and Roma target Edinson Cavani, preferring to focus on Napoli’s Arkadiusz Milik.

Atletico had been linked with Cavani for the past year and seemed to have agreed a deal for the Paris Saint-Germain striker in January.

However, the move fell through and AS reports the Spanish side are no longer pursuing him as they want Milik instead, offering him a €5m salary.

The newspaper adds Roma are showing the ‘strongest’ interest in the 33-year-old, prepared to make him their highest-paid player, while Inter are still on his case.

Cavani joined PSG from Napoli in 2013 and scored 200 goals in 301 appearances for the French giants, winning six Ligue 1 titles.
