The English Premier League officially restarted on Wednesday 17 June with the Aston Villa-Sheffield United match at the Villa Park.

In support of the 'Black Lives Matter' campaign, both marked the restart of football by taking the knee.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, top flight football in England was on break for more than three months. The impromptu break was to help stop the spread of the virus.

Both teams decided to show support to a global message following the death of George Floyd in the United States.

From the players of both teams to the match officials, all knelt down for some seconds before the match started.

Sheffield United should have taken the lead before half-time but the goal-line technology disallowed a free kick by Oliver Norwood which obviously crossed the line.
