Zlatan Ibrahimovic my biggest 'regret' as AC Milan CEO - Galliani

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Former Milan CEO Adriano Galliani confesses to his three biggest transfer regrets: Carlos Tevez, Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Now director general at Silvio Berlusconi’s new project, Serie B side Monza, Galliani spoke to Sky Sport Italia at the official opening of the transfer window.

“I have two great moments of regret. One is Tevez, and I even remember the date, it was January 12, 2012,” said Galliani.

“The other is the sale of Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva. After eight years, one of them is back at Milan and the other is playing for Chelsea.

“They were two of the most important players for PSG over the last few years, too.”

The pair were sold together to Paris Saint-Germain in July 2012 for a total of over €60m and many Milan fans see this as the moment Berlusconi’s era of success came to an end.

“Of course, all of it pales in comparison to the night in Istanbul,” added Galliani.

The Rossoneri were 3-0 up against Liverpool only to concede three goals in six minutes, eventually losing the 2005 Champions League trophy on penalties.
