The Agent of Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi has revealed how his client was convinced on leaving Spanish giants Real Madrid into joining Italian Serie A club Inter Milan.

He said Inter Milan Boss Antonio Conte was in "constant contact" with Hakimi and "talked to him about the project at the club".

The Morocco international, 21, spent the last two season at German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund on loan, however, has moved to San Siro at a price of €40m including bonuses.

Agent Alejandro Camano disclosed to Moroccan newspaper Al Mountakhab: “Zinedine Zidane is the reason for Hakimi’s transfer to Inter.

“He has to explain why he never even called the player. I don’t think a return to Real Madrid would be opportune, considering the presence of a player like Dani Carvajal, but I am certain Hakimi’s future will be luminous after this step forward.”

As widely reported, Achraf Hakimi turned big money moves from German Champions Bayern Munich and English Premier League club Manchester City to join Inter Milan.

“The coach was in constant contact with Hakimi, talked to him about the project at the club, so we decided for the transfer to Inter.

“I think when a top level coach like Conte contacts you and is really determined to have you in his squad, that is the proof you’re an important part of this plan.”
