Leicester City's struggle to qualify for next season's Champions League received a boost after a 2-0 home victory over Sheffield United.

The Foxes are fourth on the table just one point behind third-placed Chelsea.

The hosts had a huge dominance in the first half over the visitors with debutant Luke Thomas, 19, impressing at left wing-back.

Thomas assisted Ayoze Perez' opener with a low cross in the 29th minute.

After the break, Leicester City should have taken the lead further as Harvey Barnes was denied twice by The Blades goalie Dean Henderson after fine through passes by Jamie Vardy.

Foxes top goalscorer Vardy had an attempt hit the post and it looked like Sheffield United would find their way back into the game following better displays in the second 45 minutes.

Substitute Demarai Gray sealed the win for Leicester City after converting Jamie Vardy's pass.

It was the Foxes' second victory after six encounters since football resumed. They are fourth with 62 points while the Blades are 8th with 54 points.
