Lazio President Claudio Lotito assures fans that they are ‘working to reinforce the squad’ for their Champions League return.

The club picked up Pepe Reina from Milan following his Aston Villa loan and he had his medical this morning.

“We’ve been in the Champions League before during my tenure, but clearly it’s an experience that I would like to be evaluated considering the time, as we had a more limited organisation compared to the current club,” Lotito told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s different now, we’ve had the opportunity to challenge for more important positions in the table and I believe with the squad we have, we should put in strong performances.

“Just like Atalanta did, despite not having the biggest or most expensive squad, they proved that they could fly the flag for Italy in Europe.

“We want the team to have the opportunity to express itself at 100 per cent and prove what it can really do. This is why we are working to reinforce the squad and introduce elements who can make us even more competitive.”
