Friendly: France 7-1 Ukraine - Striker Giroud marks 100th cap with brace at Stade de France

World Champions France demolished Ukraine 7-1 in an international friendly played at the National Stadium Stade de France, North of Paris, France.

Pro striker Olivier Giroud netted twice on his 100th appearance for France and teenage sensation Eduardo Camavinga celebrated his acrobatic goal on his first start as they walloped visitors Ukraine on Wednesday in a friendly.


Giroud, Chelsea striker, has now scored 42 international goals, one more than Michel Platini in France's all-time scorers' list.


Thierry Henry remains France's all-time top scorer with 51 goals.

The striker said: 'It's obviously an immense pride, a great honor, It was a friendly game, but also my 100th cap, an emotionally charged match. I've moved past a French football legend, now I don't want to set limits.'


In the 24th minute, Giroud made it two for the World Champions and went ahead to double his tally with a diving header from a rebound after the half-hour mark.


Ukraine who are hit hard by injuries and positive covid-19 tests faced France with a low-grade side and were down by four goals to nothing at halftime.

Camavinga opened scoring for France Giroud netted a brace, Mykolenko netted against his side Ukraine.


Tolisso, PSG star Mbappe and Griezmann all scored.


Due to covid-19 restrictions and guidelines, only 1,000 fans were allowed into the Stade de France.
