Premier League: Liverpool 2-1 Sheffield United - Jota score winner for Reds - see all games, results ans goalscorers

Current English Champions Liverpool squeezed out a 2-1 win over Sheffield United in their Premier League clash inside Anfield on Saturday 24.

The Reds returned to winning ways without top defender Virgil Van Dijk who might be missing for Liverpool for the remainder of the season due to a serious injury he picked up during their top flight clash against Everton.


The Dutchman was involved in a heavy collision with Toffees goalie Jordan Pickford and walked off the pitch before the end of the game injured.


After a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review, Sheffield United were awarded a penalty and took the lead in the 13th minute after Norwegian midfielder Sander Berge scored from the spot.


Liverpool who have not recorded a win in their last two Premier League encounters including their embarrassing 7-2 whitewash by Aston Villa, levelled in the 41st minute through Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino.


Portuguese forward Diogo Jota returned Liverpool to winning ways after netting the winner for the hosts with a 64th minute header.

Jota's winner came just two minutes after Mohamed Salah's goal was cancelled by VAR for offside.
