2022 Afcon Qualifier: Nigeria vs Sierra Leone - 'Good to be back in squad', we are going for 'nothing but victory' - Osimhen

'After a long time', Super Eagles of Nigeria pro striker Victor Osimhen has said it's 'good to be back in the squad' as Nigeria prepares to slug it out with their West African neighbours Sierra Leone in their 2022 AFCON qualifier on Friday 13 November.

After missing out on Nigeria's international friendlies against reigning African champions Algeria and Tunisia in Austria, the striker is making a return to the National team.

Osimhen who landed in Nigeria on Wednesday partook in the Super Eagles' second training session and was declared fit for the encounter against the Leone Stars come Friday.

The striker while speaking with the Super Eagles Media Channel said it's a good feeling to be back to the National team and hopes Nigeria emerges victorious against their visitors in Edo State.

“Good feelings to be back in the squad after a long time and I think the boys are ready to go on Friday. Nothing but victory. But to be realistic the game won’t be easy, so we have to prepare well, which we have been doing and it’s also good for me to be back and we’ll give our best,” the 21-year old said.

He further said, he is not after scoring more goals to increase his tally but more interested in seeing Nigeria clinch all three points against Sierra Leone Friday.

“For me, my goals will come but the teams victory comes first over personal ambition, I just just want to help the team and I’m looking forward to the game on Friday."

Victor Osimhen is the top goalscorer in the 2022 AFCON qualifiers with four goals after two games and is expected to lead Nigeria's attack against the Leone Stars at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in the city of Benin.
