Premier League: Chelsea 3-1 Leeds United - Blues take top spot after home comeback

Video ⬇ Chelsea have climbed to the top spot of the Premier League after coming from the back to defeat Leeds United 3-1 at the Stamford Bridge in their Premier League match on Saturday.

The Blues recorded the home victory against their visitors in front of fans for the first time after nine months.


Patrick Bamford placed the Peacocks in front early in the 4th minute.


Bamford, a former Chelsea players, who flaunted the Blues colours for five years, however, didn't make a senior appearance.


French striker Olivier Giroud who made his first Premier League start for Chelsea against Leeds netted the equaliser for the hosts in the 27th minute.

Giroud was extremely helpful for Frank Lampard's side when they locked horns with Spanish side Sevilla in their Uefa Champions League game, scoring four times as the Blues whitewashed their hosts 4-0.


Kurt Zouma made it two for the Blues who welcomed 2,000 fans at the Stamford Bridge after Covid-19 restrictions were eased.


Zouma's goal came in the 61st minute after converting Mason Mount's corner.

American attacking midfielder Christian Pulisic who came in as substitute sealed the win with the third goal for Chelsea late in the third additional minute after full-time.


With this outcome, Chelsea have moved to first on the Premier League table with 22 points, one point above Tottenham Hotspur who will host Arsenal on Sunday 6 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at 17:30.

Leeds United are thirteenth on the table, accumulating 14 points from eleven encounters.
