Amaju Pinnick, President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) with Gernot Rohr, Super Eagles Head Coach over his comments that the Nigerian team are not favourites to clinch the 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations in Egypt this summer.
The Super Eagles were the first team to qualify for tournament, at the weekend they discomfited Seychelles 3 - 1 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, finishing as Group E toppers with 13 points. A group which includes South Africa and Libya.
Despite all these achievements, Manager Rohr still believes his team were not among the four favourite to clinch the AFCON 🏆trophy in Egypt this summer.
According to the German Manager, "We are not among the favourites to win the Nations Cup trophy and it would be stupid for me to believe that we are going to win it".
However, Pinnick said that he was expecting the Super Eagles to go for the ultimate prize at Egypt ②⓪①⑨.
"When you have a child and prepare him for an exam, your expectation is for the child to excel and that is the same expectation I have for the Super Eagles at the upcoming Nations Cup in Egypt. I expect them to go and compete for the trophy, nothing more, nothing less.
"My expectations are not overreaching because they are amongst the top four countries on the continent."
