CAF Champions League: Lobi Stars knocked out despite 2 - 0 home victory against ASEC Mimosas

Despite winning 2 - 0 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu, Nigerian side Lobi Stars have been knocked out of the CAF Champions League after the clash against Ivorian side ASEC Mimosas on Saturday.


Solomon Ogbeide’s men finished third in the Group A with seven points from six games, with a better goal difference than Asec who are bottom on seven points too.

South African side Mamelodi Sundowns FC and Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca made it through to the quarter-finals from the group.

Sikiru Alimi netted both goals for the Nigerian side in the tough match.

Alimi scored the first goal in the third minute and sealed the victory for Lobi Stats three minutes to hour mark, and finished the tournament as the highest scorer for the club scoring five goals.

In the other group's game between Wydad Casablanca and Mamelodi Sundowns, the Moroccan side emerged victorious by lone goal scored by Mohammed Nahiri.
