Abia Warriors Coach Makinwa resigns, Deutsch to replace him

Henry Makinwa has resigned as coach of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Abia Warriors.

Makinwa, an ex-Nigeria youth international and former ABS Ilorin gaffer, joined the Abia State fold midway into the current 2018/2019 abridged NPFL.

According to CompleteSports, Makinwa turned in his resignation letter after their 1-0 defeat at Delta Force in a matchday-16 fixture Sunday in Asaba.

“I’ve given them my resignation letter but they are yet to accept it,” soft spoken Makinwa said.

“I don’t know, I’m tired so I decided to leave, maybe another coach will come in and things get better,” Makinwa lamented.

Delta Force of Asaba coach, Emma Deutsch, a Cameroonian, has emerged as the preferred successor to Makinwa at Abia Warriors, CompleteSports says.

Deutsch turned in his resignation letter to the hierarchy Delta Force on Wednesday and this appears to have been accepted.
