Arsenal Spanish Manager Mikel Arteta is disturbed by the reality that he will not have enough funds for new additions to his side in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners sit on the ninth spot of the top flight table, three points behind Wolverhampton Wanderers who are sixth.

Arteta's side came from behind to discomfit Champions Liverpool inside the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.

"I don't know. It's a big concern," Mikel Arteta answered SkySports when asked if he would have sufficient funds to sign new players this summer transfer window.

The Spaniard further said: "You need it to build a squad. It's not magic. You need to improve with quality, quality players in the squad and you need bigger squads to compete in this competition. There's the challenge."

Last summer, the North London outfit spent beyond £135m, broke their transfer record to bring in Ivorian pro winger Nicolas Pepe for £72m alongside bringing in full-back Kieran Tierney for £25m, defender David Luiz, forward Gabriel Martinelli and defender William Saliba - who rejoined Saint-Etienne on loan.

Arsenal are still far out of the Premier League top four despite all these spendings.

Arteta confessed that the difference between his side and Liverpool remains obviously huge despite coming from the back to clinch a 2-1 win at home against the Reds.

He said: "The gap between the two teams today is enormous.

"We can not improve it in two months, but the accountability, the fight is now equal and I am very proud of that. The rest will take some time."
