Croatian pro forward Mario Mandzukic has terminated his contract with Al-Duhail by mutual consent.

There are rumours that Italian clubs AC Milan and Benevento are interested in the
forward as he plots return to Serie A.

According to suggestions, Mandzukic will return to Italian top flight and join Pippo Inzaghi’s Benevento when they are promoted.

Benevento Calcio are number one on the Italian Serie B table.

AC Milan have also shown interest in the forward before his move to Qatar, he would be expected to take Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic's position if he leaves the club next term.

Mario Mandzukic spent only seven months with the Qatari club Al-Duhail and has announced that he has parted ways with the club.

The 34-year old Croatian wrote in twitter: “I reached an agreement with Al-Duhail management to terminate my contract by mutual consent.

“I appreciate the trust and hospitality that I have received in Qatar and I wish the best to the club and the team in future.”
