Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne is racing against the clock to make Saturday’s match against Barcelona, as tests revealed an injury to ‘the left long adductor tendon’.

The Partenopei’s medical report came back with bad news after the 3-1 win over Lazio last weekend, as Insigne picked up an adductor injury and will be assessed daily until the big game in the Champions League.

Insigne, who scored from the penalty spot in the 54th minute at the San Paolo, was replaced by Eljif Elmas after 84 minutes and the outcome of the medical tests were not positive.

“Lorenzo Insigne, injured in the final minutes against Lazio on Saturday, underwent instrumental examinations today, which highlighted an injury to the left long adductor tendon, with bone edema,” the club wrote in a statement.

“His condition will be assessed day by day.”
