Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has assured the players, spectators and other visitors a safe atmosphere as the City of Benin will host the encounter come Friday 13 November at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin.
Since the conclusion of renovation works at the Stadium, the Nigeria-Sierra Leone clash will be the first competitive match to be played in the Stadium.
This is certainly not Super Eagles' first game since the coronavirus outbreak. Nigeria have had two friendlies against African Champions Algeria and Tunisia, both games played in Austria.
Nigeria Head Coach Gernot Rohr after the two friendly encounters - losing by a lone goal against the Desert Warriors of Algeria and drawing 1-1 against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia, has assured that the Super Eagles will be in top form against Sierra Leone and Benin Republic in their AFCON qualifier.
Edo State is prepared to host the teams and fans, Crusoe Osagie who is Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy assured
According to PMNews, Osagie said, the match is also dear to the state as it comes barely a day after the inauguration of Governor Godwin Obaseki on November 12.
Osagie also said that the match is another avenue for the state to show the holistic transformation of the stadium into a world-class facility.
“Players and supporters alike will be treated to one of the best sporting facilities in the world, which features the Video Assistant Referee technology," he said.
